Country Artists A-D

Fun Facts & Long History

We have been fortunate over the years to be instrumental in the development of many superstars early in their careers. Over the years the combination of Country Music and outdoor events has always been a good mix.

In the 1970's acts like The Statler Brothers, Barbara Mandrell & The Mandrell Sisters, Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Mickey Gilley, Marty Robbins, Dolly Parton, Charlie Daniels were dominating the fair and festival markets, and Variety Attractions was a major part of bringing these artists to those events.

In 1980, an old friend and manager came to George Moffett, and told him that he had signed a new act on RCA records and they were going to turn country music upside down. Variety Attractions once again came to the table with 50 dates for fairs, festivals and outdoor events. That group was ALABAMA, and 1980 was one of the biggest years of their career.

In September of 1989 another friend and trusted agent Joe Harris came to George Moffett and played a demo tape of a new artist he had signed. He told George that this guy is gonna be the biggest star ever to hit the music industry. Variety once again came to the table with 55 dates on fairs and festivals. That artist was Garth Brooks.
