The Georgia Satellites

The Georgia Satellites

•Founded in 1985 by Rick Richards, Rick Price, singer Dan Baird and drummer Mauro Magellan

Biography

The Georgia Satellites were one of the most ferocious bands of the 1980’s. What set them apart from the other 10,000 groups that cranked their amps to 11, was that their wild riffs and tanked cries came from a quartet that understood it’s place in rock tradition and fought hard to solidify it with each recording.

Founded in 1985 by Rick Richards, Rick Price, singer Dan Baird and drummer Mauro Magellan, the Satellites quickly launched into stardom with hits like “Keep Your Hands to Yourself,” Battleship Chains, Hippy Hippy Shake and others. Critically acclaimed albums and mind-bending performances earned the boys a permanent spot in music history.

After a brief sabbatical following the departure of Baird, The Georgia Satellites returned with a vengeance in 1993. Led by Price and Richards and joined by drummer Todd Johnston, they have packed houses around the world with their blistering brand of Southern rock.

As their current live shows illustrate they have expanded forever the limits and the promise of what a band can do with three chords (well, sometimes only 2) played harder than ever before. From their bar band roots to their chart-crashing mega hits to their current tour of sold-out shows, The Georgia Satellites have kept the world moving to sweet, gritty, three-chord rock n roll.
