Matthew West is an American Contemporary Christian musician and actor from Nashville, Tennessee. West wrote most of his first songs in the sanctuary of his father’s church which he was home from college on breaks. Starting out as an independent artist in the late 1990’s he released three albums before being signed years later.
In 2007, West began to experience vocal problems which later was discovered “hemorrhaging” and had to undergo surgery that was career threatening. He was then told he had to have a two month resting period to recover. A video documentary called “Nothing to Say” was filmed during his time of silence and recovery in 2008 and was sold with his album “Something to Say”.
